History of Special Education
Special education, which is referred to as exceptional student education, is an education system that trains students in a more special and accommodative manner. Its main aim is to provide education to students with special needs such as; learning disabilities, communication problems, physical disabilities, and psychological problems (De Los Santos & Kupczynski, 2020). The history of special education dates back to 1760 when a special school for the Deaf was established in Edinburgh, United Kingdom. Since then, there have been a series of events that have transformed special education into its current state. Below is a timeline of events that transformed the system.
