Are women better parents than men?
Annotated Bibliography
Christov-Moore, Leonardo et al. “Empathy: Gender effects in brain and behavior.” Neuroscience and biobehavioral reviews vol. 46 Pt 4, Pt 4 (2014): 604-27.
In this article, the researchers have efficiently analyzed how gender affects empathy, resulting in how one behaves. The study outcomes indicate diversities in empathy capacity among males and females. However, the main question is how deep these differences go, especially in parenting contexts. Based on various cultures and traditions, significant stereotypes have been made on who has better parenting capacity among men and women. The researchers indicate that women are more nurturing and empathetic than men, who are deemed less emotional and more cognitive. This makes women better parents as children can easily relate with them in a warm context. The research has various supportive citations from other authors who have observed gender differences with significant cultural influence on gender roles.
