Impacts of P-12 Students’ Learning
Participating in the P-12 students’ learning activity has been life-changing. Working with the youths and children during the program has proven that being culturally responsive is essential in becoming an effective educational practitioner. I encountered P-12 students with diverse cultural backgrounds. Some of the students were from African-American communities, Hispanics, European-Americans, Asian-Americans, and Hispanics. I learned how to be collaborative with students with different cultures and ethnicity from mine. In other words, I have become a more culturally competent individual. Besides, the P-12 activity has made me interactive. I have developed the confidence to interact with people regardless of their language capabilities. I have come to understand that communication is more than just a language subject. People can still interact with patience and empathy even when they speak different languages (Wieder, 2019).
